Nantong Teijin recognized for major water & CO₂ reductions
Nantong Teijin Co., Ltd., a subsidiary of Teijin Frontier Co., Ltd., has been recognized by China’s Jiangsu Provincial Department of Ecology and Environment for its significant water conservation efforts. The company reduced water usage by approximately 300,000 tons annually through innovative equipment and systems for analyzing, recovering, storing, and reusing wastewater from its dyeing processes.
This initiative, which began in 2022, also resulted in a 4% reduction in CO2 emissions, verified by a third-party lifecycle assessment conducted according to ISO14040 standards. As a result, Nantong Teijin has been certified as a leading company promoting environmental initiatives in the Yangtze River Delta region.
The certification aims to strengthen ecological and environmental protection in the region. Companies were evaluated by the Nantong City Bureau of Ecology and Environment based on self-reported efforts and onsite inspections. Of the 164 companies recommended for the certification, 30 were selected by the Jiangsu Provincial Department of Ecology and Environment. Nantong Teijin was among the five companies receiving the highest ratings and is the only Japanese company and the sole representative from the textile industry in this distinguished group.
Teijin Frontier Group, through its THINK ECO® environmental strategy, is committed to promoting sustainable manufacturing practices. Leveraging this recognition, Nantong Teijin plans to expand its water conservation initiatives across other group companies, further emphasizing its dedication to environmentally responsible operations.
